In the context of the research project, a second important action to support entrepreneurship in the senior care industry took place for 91 ERASMUS students of the Undergraduate Program of Studies at the Athens University of Economics and Business.
Specifically, in the course titled "Entrepreneurship" during the winter semester 2024-25, the instructor Helen Salavou, Associate Professor and Scientific Coordinator of ELIDEK, provided guidance during the 3-hour lectures for the development of 27 group-based business plans (2-member to 5-member teams) focusing on the senior care industry.
The business ideas were presented in person in an auditorium of the main building of the University during the last courses of the winter semester (17 and 24 January 2025) as part of the students’ evaluation, which weighs not only the final written exams, but also the presentation of the business ideas and the business plan (compulsory deliverable).
ERASMUS students were informed about the research project at the beginning of the course (October 2024) and sought additional information on the website www.react.aueb.gr. They expressed appreciation for the opportunity to have free access to the project deliverables from the website, which is in English.
Overall, this action within the Athens University of Economics and Business is indicative of synergies created by the combination of an ERASMUS course and a research project. Specifically, it allowed 91 young people studying in European Universities not only to enhance their entrepreneurial skills but also to be informed about the problems of the senior care industry in Greece by proposing solutions through new venture creation.
